不能直接用數(shù)計算,而需用量詞計算的名詞,稱為不可數(shù)名詞,它們一般沒有復(fù)數(shù)形式,作主語時,謂語用單數(shù)。
二、不可數(shù)名詞分類
不可數(shù)名詞主要分物質(zhì)名詞和抽象名詞,物質(zhì)名詞是指表示無法分為個體的實物的詞,常見的物質(zhì)名詞,如:snow(雪),rain(雨), water(水),coffee(咖啡), tea(茶), meat (肉), milk(牛奶), rice(米飯), bread(面包), orange (桔汁)等;抽象名詞是指表示動作、狀態(tài)、品質(zhì)、感情等抽象概念的詞,常見的抽象名詞,如:work(工作), study(學(xué)習(xí)), love(愛), friendship (友誼)等。
三、不可數(shù)名詞的修飾語
不可數(shù)名詞不能直接用不定冠詞a/an、指示代詞和基數(shù)詞修飾,但可以用定冠詞the以及some, any, a lot of, much, a little等限定詞修飾。例如:
What's the weather like today?
There's only a little milk in the bottle.
How much water would you like?
如果要表示不可數(shù)名詞的具體數(shù)量,其前必須用"計量名詞+of"短語,但計量名詞有單、復(fù)數(shù)之分。例如:
a / one cup of tea 一杯茶
two bags of rice 兩袋米
three glasses of water 三玻璃杯水
a piece of paper 一張紙
a tin of Coca Cola 一罐可口可樂
