Good morning professors,
It’s really a great honor to have this opportunity for an interview. My name is Jia jiangang, I hope I can make a good performance today. Now let me introduce myself briefly first. I am 34 years old, and I was born in hebei province. I have a happy family. My wife and I are both teachers. My mother helps us to look after my little daughter. My daughter is very lovely and only one and a half years old.
I have a stable personality and high sense of responsibility. I am open-minded and willing to work under pressure. Sometimes I prefer to stay alone, reading, listening to music, look through some blog with my interest, but I am not lonely, I like to chat with my colleagues. We often make comments on current events. I am also skillful in searching for information in Internet. I always believe that one will easily lag behind unless he keeps on learning.
I graduated from Lanzhou University of Technology and received my bachelor’s degree in June, 2000. My major is Metal Materials and Heat Treatment. After graduation, in July 2000 I became an assistant of school of materials science and engineering, LUT. Nearly two and a half years later, in January 2003, I was permitted to attend the graduate entrance examination. And I started to study for a master’s degree in September 2003. In September 2005 I began with my PhD courses. In the same year I received a lecturer position of our university. I mainly lectured on “Fundamentals of materials science” and “Heat treatment of Steels” for undergraduate students. From September 2005 to June 2008 I had to balance between teaching and my PhD studies. Throughout 3 years hard working I got my Doctor’s degree in materials science. Those were really difficult years but full of enrichments that I will never forget.
At the research aspect, I had 10 more articles published in the past 5 years. And I gained a National Natural Science Foundation of China last year. My research works mainly focus on preparation of novel intermetallics and the tribological properties of the as prepared materials. This time I applied for studying in University of Southampton because I want to improve my research abilities and become a better researcher in my research field. The national Centre for Advanced Tribology at the University of Southampton is a multidisciplinary Tribology Centre, so I feel I can gain the most I want from studying there. If I could succeed in this interview, I will pay any price and bear any burden to study abroad in order to be capable of more responsibilities when I come back.
Now I would like to answer whatever you may raise. Thank you!
