the wood turning process
this wooden japanese tea set is made by turning each piece on a lathe. the results are sets
of tea vessels which stack on top of one another creating totem-like structures.
kuramoto consulted with craftsmen on the process to produce several collections of tea sets,
each distinguished by their forms and colors. the aim for this project was to combine
contemporary values and aesthetics with traditional handcrafted pieces.
