PYONGYANG, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has said the country would uphold the ideology of late leader Kim Jong Il in its drive to achieve new victories, the official newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported Thursday.
He made the remarks at a meeting with leading officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) on April 6, the report said.
According to the newspaper, Kim asked all party members, soldiers and others citizens to "uphold the party's ideology and leadership with faith and conscience" and "rally firm around the central committee of the party."
The fourth WPK Conference held Wednesday endorsed late leader Kim Jong Il as the party's eternal general secretary and named Kim Jong Un as its first secretary, a position set up for the first time for WPK's supreme leader.
