英語技巧： 如何表達拒絕
說“不”并不是犯罪，但如果說得不合適，在英語中聽起來就顯得粗魯了。
邀請
您需要做的就是您很感謝受到邀請，但不方便赴約。 要做的事情主要是：
1) 說出感謝
2) 說“不”
3) 給出理由
還有可能：
4) 建議其他時間或日期
這里有一個如何拒絕邀請的例子：
- “非常感謝您的邀請，但我已經有約了。(Thank you so much for the invitation, but I’m afraid I have a prior engagement.)”
更正式一些：
- “感謝您的邀請！(Thanks for the invitation!) 不過很抱歉我不能來，因為我已計劃了其他事情。(I’m really sorry, I can’t come - I’ve already got other plans.)”
下面提供一些更多的方法來拒絕邀請而不直接說“不”：
- “我很想去，不過恐怕不行。(I’d love to, but I’m afraid I can’t.) 可以換個時間嗎？(Would another time be possible?)”
- “很抱歉，我無法去。(I’m very sorry, but I won’t be able to make it.) 要是換個時間就太好了！(Another time would be great, though!)”
- “好主意，但我這次無法參加了。(It’s a lovely idea, but I won’t be able to join you this time.)”
- “您太好了，不過...(That’s very kind of you, but …)”
- “我可以稍后加入你們嗎？(Could I join you later?) 我必須先完成一些事情。(I just have to finish something.)”
- “今天不太合適，明天如何？(Today’s not so good - how about tomorrow?)”
如何打斷嘮叨：
- “我了解您所說的事情，只是我現在（不感興趣/無法去/不可能去）。(I understand what you’re getting at, but (I’m just not interested/I just can’t /it just won’t be possible) at the moment.)”
如果他們實在不明白您的提示，則試著直呼其名來加以強調：
- “Michael，實在抱歉，只是我現在確實不能去。(Look, (Michael), I’m sorry, but it’s just not going to be possible at the moment.)”
請求
拒絕幫助比較困難，但有時卻不得不拒絕。
您可以實話實說：
- “我很想幫助您，但現在恐怕無法再增加任何新任務了。(I’d like to help you but I can’t take on any new commitments at the moment, I’m afraid.)”
或者給予其他人信心，以使其獨立完成：
- “事實上，我覺得您完全可以自己做好！(Actually, I think this is something you could do really well yourself!)”
- “要不您先自己做著，在需要幫助時喊我？(Why not have a go yourself, and give me a shout if you need help?)”
嘗試“打時間牌”，并希望那人別再來問您了：
- “我需要仔細考慮一下。(I need to think it over.) 我稍后告訴您好嗎？(Can I get back to you later?)”
- “讓我考慮一下，然后再告訴您，可以嗎？(I’ll think about it and let you know, OK?)”
或者嘗試建議對方找其他人幫助：
- “我恐怕對它并不熟悉，不過您問過 (X) 了嗎？(I’m afraid I’m not familiar with that, but have you asked (X)?)”
- “對不起，我實在做不來這事。也許 (X) 可幫助您。(Sorry, but that’s not really something I can do. Maybe (X) can help you.)”
- “哦，親愛的，我最不擅長做這種事情了！(Oh dear, I’m terrible at that sort of thing!) 讓 (X) 來看一下怎么樣？(What about getting (X) to have a look at it?)”
