如何寫論文的引言,是每一個(gè)研究生同學(xué)都會(huì)碰到的問(wèn)題。正所謂,思緒萬(wàn)千,卻不知道從何入手。其實(shí),文章只要開(kāi)好了頭,也就完成了一半。
或許對(duì)很多朋(da)友(niu)們來(lái)講,引言已經(jīng)不是什么問(wèn)題啦。但是如果我們能利用語(yǔ)言學(xué)領(lǐng)域中的知識(shí)和研究,更系統(tǒng)地看待學(xué)術(shù)寫作,更高效地寫作和閱讀文獻(xiàn),豈不是更好嗎?
今天要推薦給大家的是John Swales的學(xué)術(shù)引言寫作C.A.R.S模型。
所謂C.A.R.S模型就是The Creating a Research Space Model (“創(chuàng)建研究空間”模型),是由John Swales于1981年提出,后在1990年出版的《體裁分析》(Genre Analysis: English in Academic and Research Settings)一書中進(jìn)行修正,由原先的4-move(語(yǔ)步)model改為3-move model (1990,p. 141)。
John M. Swales,1938年出生,畢業(yè)于劍橋大學(xué),主修心理學(xué),曾任教于利茲大學(xué)、阿斯頓大學(xué)及密歇根大學(xué)(安阿伯分校),現(xiàn)已退休。
這個(gè)模型可以說(shuō)非常經(jīng)典啦。通過(guò)這個(gè)模型,你可以更好地開(kāi)展寫作,并了解引言在你論文及更大范圍研究中的作用。
Move 1: Establishing a Territory(確定研究范圍)-SITUATION

Step 2 -- Making topic generalization(s) 概括主題內(nèi)容 and/or

這一步,作者通常需要展現(xiàn)的是該研究議題是有趣的、相關(guān)的、重要的,值得研究的。
常見(jiàn)的句式包括:

The well-known…. phenomena…h(huán)as been favorite topics for analysis both in…

Step 2 Making topic generalizations 概括主題內(nèi)容
這一步一般有兩種形式:1)對(duì)該議題現(xiàn)有的知識(shí)、做法的陳述;

A standard procedure for assessing has been…
2)對(duì)現(xiàn)象的描述
如:
An elaborate system of… is found in the…
There are many situations where….
Step 3 Reviewing items of previous research 回顧前期研究成果
這一步作者需要具體地闡述:過(guò)去誰(shuí)(who)在什么時(shí)間(when)發(fā)現(xiàn)了什么(what)。可以想象,這一步會(huì)有大量的in-text citation
如:
Smith(1989)found….
It has been suggested that…(Smith,1989)
Observations by Smith (1989)….
The moon is probably made of cheese (Brie, 1988)

Step 1a Counter-claiming 提出相反意見(jiàn)

Step 1d Continuing a tradition 拓展前人研究
常與邏輯連接詞共同出現(xiàn),如therefore, hence, consequently及thus.
如:

It is desirable to carry out surveys of…
Move 2不一定出現(xiàn)在整個(gè)literature review之后,也可能緊跟在每一條separate review之后,這樣的話,Step 1/Move 3 Move 2就會(huì)不斷循環(huán),直到review完全完成。

這一步回答的問(wèn)題是 why?為什么要做這個(gè)研究
