戰(zhàn)場墨菲法則

Murphy's Law,不管是譯為墨菲法則、莫非定理、還是摩菲定理什么都好。這是西方世界常用的俚語,其主要內(nèi)容是:事情如果有變壞的可能,不管這種可能性有多小,它總會發(fā)生。據(jù)說最早是一個叫Edward A. Murphy的航空工程師創(chuàng)立的,并在與航天機(jī)械相關(guān)的領(lǐng)域被廣泛引用,但之后逐漸進(jìn)入習(xí)語范疇,其內(nèi)涵被賦予無窮的創(chuàng)意,出現(xiàn)了眾多的變體,Cannonical Murphy's Laws of Combat就是其中之一(從某些詞條的內(nèi)容來看,我懷疑是在越戰(zhàn)期間總結(jié)的)。

我最早看到的墨菲法則的戰(zhàn)場版有33條,最近經(jīng)常發(fā)現(xiàn)一些網(wǎng)站或論壇轉(zhuǎn)載只有26條的縮水版而且還美其名曰《美軍作戰(zhàn)手冊》(在此不得不BS一下把墨菲法則當(dāng)成作戰(zhàn)手冊的人,真正的美軍作戰(zhàn)手冊何止140本,人家可是連作戰(zhàn)地區(qū)的牙齒保健都有專門的一本手冊的,不信?點這個鏈接看看,這里還只是可公開的部分而矣)。前段時間偶然看到有人轉(zhuǎn)載了足足有140條之多的版本,我想這個大概是足本了吧,一時興起就試著翻譯了。

感謝lzx0503、p210、胖哥、AKAK545、solo12、虎甲1、黃藥師等QBQer對翻譯內(nèi)容提出的意見和幫助,感謝好孩子吱提供的建議。這法則真不容易翻譯,尤其是使用了大量的諷刺、雙關(guān)、引用,很多翻譯結(jié)果都無法完美地達(dá)到“信達(dá)俗”,所以不得不用括號里加注幫助讀者(尤其是非軍事愛好者)理解?!獮槭裁床皇?#8220;信達(dá)雅”?這些俚語沒有臟話連篇已經(jīng)不錯了,要是再高雅起來就更不貼合其原意了。不過好的翻譯不是譯出來的,是推敲出來的,現(xiàn)在這個版本不一定是最貼切的版本,歡迎大家提出更好的建議。


1. Friendly fire - isn't.
友軍火力一點兒都不友好。(美軍術(shù)語Friendly fire是指“被自己人誤傷”)

2. Recoilless rifles - aren't.
無坐力炮的后坐力大著呢。

3. Suppressive fires - won't.
壓制火力啥也壓制不了。

4. You are not Superman; Marines and fighter pilots take note.
你不是超人,陸戰(zhàn)隊員和戰(zhàn)斗機(jī)飛行員特別要緊記這一條。

5. A sucking chest wound is Nature's way of telling you to slow down.
胸口被打個大洞,你就自然而然會停下來。(sucking是正在飆血的意思)

6. If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.
